hi there!

this is my diary of cancer. not in a sad, depressing way. in a kick ass interesting way that lets peeps know how i am, what i'm going though and how i make it better, more fun and lot less serious. yeah, it sucks. sure i'll be sick. but in the end life is short and rather than hold hand and sing prayers, talk about how i'm an inspiration or some heavy stuff...lets have fun. talk about the cool shit i make to get me through this, the crapball movies i watch (because netflix is only so big) and fun stories about the "c" word and what it really is like. i share this all because a community of peeps fundraised so i can still be here. so this how i let them all know how i'm doin', when i'm not high on painkillers that is....just kiddin.

(for the old people and the painfully un-hip, please look up g-thang by snoop dog and dr.dre)

peeing in the woods

in all of this trying to relax hoohaa going on, i decided to take a weekend to big sur. russian river is like my ultimate getaway because its a forest, theres water, hot tubs and you can get a giant ass house with 10 ppl for almost nothing and just cook, hang out and laugh. but then i discovered big sur last year.

the henry miller library shows are amazing. its like you moved to a tiny town and youre seeing epic bands in a tiny outdoor town hall. i think of gillmore girls small town when i am there. but thats a weird analogy that outs me as someone who actually watched the wb. shit. oh well. youre surrounded by trees, everyone is in some magical sweater, theres big persian rugs, people are laying down listening to psych rock bands. i saw one of my favorite bands ever here, dungen, and was changed. after that weekend, i vowed i would go down there any chance i could and crash at fernwood for magical camping moments that still allow me a toilet, a beer store and me probably not getting eaten by a bear.

we took a 32 hr skip to big sur and as always, it was magic. we stopped along the way in pescadero for some goat cheese and berries. oh but wait, we hung out with the goats. so cute i almost exploded. it feels nice to see where you buy your food sometimes. then we trekked on to santa cruz for some beers at the red room before saddling up for woodsist music festival, which is a label that houses just about every good band i love from sf and ny. for the first time since i was a kid, i slept in a real tent, not a tent cabin, not a cabin, not a house a real tent.

my friend tae loaded me up with enough alite gear to slay the woods as a newbie. oh and i did. maybe we had goat cheese, tecates and fancy candles. some may call it glamping. i will refrain and say i camped. and i slept alone in a tent and outside of waking up from any scurry assuming i would get eaten by a bear or a velociraptor, i slept next to a little stream and slept well. only after playing some bone thugs by the fire with some fresh corn on the cob over a duraflame (i hope thats safe to eat)

next day, off for magical henry miller library for some good times. it did make me feel like i was home bc i knew half the people there, but it still felt like a magical getaway. the theme for the day was epic brotherhood of rock. it was kinda fun, maybe it was the weed pretzels, but seeing all these bands play together and the mad respect they have for one another off stage is rad. not only did they have some of the best bands out right now, but guys from up and coming bands were all there working, doing video, whatever0 waiting on the sidelines to get into the brotherhood. sounds totally retarded when i describe it, but there was some kind of magical wood forest dude rock energy there i havent seen before. at one point, woods got on stage and about half the other bands did as well for one of the raddest guitar rock moments all day. woods killed it. white fence too. fresh & onlys, nodzzz,

here are some worthy clips. woods- ill say it again. killed it

there is something just amazing with garage and psych right now in sf, being able to see bands play down here in big sur is always amazing and like a super rock vacation. anyway, camping, being in the woods, is always a fix for me. now that i've done a few big sur weekends, it may beat out russian river for me.

i cant wait to camp more and already planned labor day if im ok, to head out for 4 days of it. all tents, all campfire, no outlets. i like this. alot. it makes me feel better and the only way i can truly kill my phone, laptop and etc. time for more of it. now if tame impala would just play there, i would lose my shit.

here are a few more of the bands, you need to get their lps:
